What a Week!

What a wonderful week! We enjoyed some beautiful weather and some community-building events here at Todd Hall. The October PBIS celebration and Halloween festivities were eagerly anticipated by all. There are some photos and brief articles on the Todd homepage about these two special events.

It is hard to believe that October is now behind us and November is here. Report cards and parent/teacher conferences are just around the corner. Watch for our new standards-based report cards in your child's backpack on November 5th. Conferences have already been scheduled for November 5th and/or 10th.

The construction work will begin soon on the administration building. Superintendent Klaisner is keeping me informed and involved in the process as we prepare to put up safety fencing.

Dear Parents,

Happy Halloween! We had a fun day today!

Student records

Hello everyone, now that we have finished with the health records we need to move onto the vision report that is now a law in Illinois. Please get these reports in to me otherwise we will have to hold your child’s report card when they come out.

Also, even though the dentals are not due until May 15th, please try and get it done early. This way as the end of the school year approaches you will have one less thing to worry about.

Fall projects for 1st and 2nd grades

Both grade levels, 1st and 2nd are painting this week. They are using watercolor paints to express their impressions of fall leaves. The colors are beautiful this time of the year, and what a better way to show what our students are observing as they are outside.

During conferences the 1st grade will have their annual Fall Art Show, with their fall leaves and a few trees on display in the main hallway. The pictures will be grouped according to their class number for easy identification.  Enjoy.

Second grade will have their fall leaves displayed in the second grade hall and in the art room,  on a random basis.

Exclusion date October 15

Hello parents Believe it or not we have been in school 6 weeks and this is the 1st chance I’ve had to post a message on my blog. Keeping the students records in order and the school compliant with state law certainly keeps me busy.  I’ve done my best with letters home and reminder phone calls and this message will be the last reminder to get the papers in that I need.  The exclusion date is October 15th and is mandated by the state of Illinois.

1st Grade caterpillars

1st grade has finished their caterpillars, many will be coming home this week.

2nd grade butterflies

The 2nd grade classes have finished their butterflies, some may be coming home next week. They are beautiful, enjoy the pictures.

Dear Parents,

The first graders have just finished their unit on Senses.  They learned when and how they are using their senses.  Journals were sent home today.  Ask your child to see it!

The second graders are in the middle of learning about providing goods and services. Vocabulary words that we are learning about are factory, warehouse, trucks, transport and moving.  Try to discuss these words with your child.

Reminder:  The ELL Center  in Skokie is holding an Open House this Sunday.  Flyers were sent home with all the students.   It is a great opportunity to see  and meet others in your community.

Have a great weekend!
