firehouse field trip

Dear Parents,

As you can tell from our posted photos, we all had a wonderful time at the Lincolnwood Fire House. Both boys and girls alike were impressed by the huge engines, noisy sirens, flashing lights and dedicated firefighters. It was a perfect display of how each of our FIVE SENSES helps us learn about our surroundings, and, in this case, stay safe. The firemen (unfortunately, there are no female firefighters in Lincolnwood...yet) are truly interested in teaching the young residents how to react to any fire emergency. They patiently put on all of their equipment in front of us so that the children could see that the friendly firefighter is underneath all of the sometimes frightening apparel.

The repeated mantra was "go to the firefighter if he enters your house to save you. Do NOT run away or hide from him." These are all discussions that should be continued at home.
