Published Weekly by Mrs. Govostis’ First Grade Class

     We just finished observing Earth Week.The following stories helped us think about the importance of keeping the Earth clean and pollution-free:   Miss Rumphius, The Lorax, Just a Dream, A River Ran Wild, and Let's Look After our World.  We have done writing responses for each one of these books. We also reminded each other that at home, as well as, in school, we have to practice the rule, "reduce, reuse, and recycle."
    The ongoing concern of global warming came up, and we related it nicely to the Biosphere project we worked on last month.  Mrs. Govostis gave us an informational packet to work on which also let us know that there are people in our country working hard to solve the problem.  We will bringing it home to share with youl

Earth Week

This week we take a break from our bird unit to study the earth.  We'll spend the week learning how we can care for our planet.  The children were proud to share their trash-to-treasure projects today.  As you can see, they are on display in our showcase for all to see!
