Submitted by Mrs Froman on Fri, 2008-01-18 13:09.Hi, My name is Cathy Kim and I am the De Paul U. student teacher in your child's classroom.  While Mrs. Froman introduced our topic, PENGUINS, on Mon., I taught the children for the remainder of the week. We learned how they walk, what they eat, who eats them and how they keep themselves warm. You might want to review a few of our vocabulary words with them. They include KRILL, BLUBBER, WADDLE, ANTARCTICA and SOUTH POLE. We had a mini lesson on GLOBES and MAPS, which we will revisit when appropriate.Â
Next week I will be teaching the children about FARM ANIMALS. I am very excited and hope the children will come to class just as eager. I do encourage you to send in appropriate props from home when they are APPROPRIATE for our topic. They do love to share.Â

Submitted by Mrs Froman on Fri, 2008-01-11 15:17.Welcome back to all of our families after the long holiday vacation. And thanks to all for you kind remembrances. It's always wonderful to spend extra time with family and friends but there's something very necessary about returning to a healthy routine. The children were excited to be back with their classmates and happy to fall back into a familiar schedule. One little girl wrote us a note saying how much she missed sitting on the rug listening to stories, of all things. Yes, there is something comforting about our daily activities, even if they do get a bit LOUD at times.
Rather than start out with "new year's resolutions," which is a bit beyond their grasp, we decided to talk about community helpers. This led us to the next logical step, "what do you want to be when you grow up?" It was our version of a plan for the future. Some of our introductory topics included:
