Letters to Eric Carle

As you know, we are reading books by one of our favorite childrens' authors -- Eric Carle!  The children wrote letters to him at the writing center this week.  Because the school year is nearly over, I will not send them from Todd Hall.  I imagine his response would arrive over the summer.  However, here is Eric Carle's address:

Eric Carle, PO Box 485, Northampton, MA 01060

I encourage you to mail your child's letter from home.  You will find it in their red home folder tomorrow.  I have written to him in the past, and I know from experience that he sends a very cool package of materials in response to letters!

Have fun!

Library Books

Reminder...

This is the LAST week for the kids to borrow books from the library.  Please bring your library books back before Thursday so you can choose new ones for the last time this year.  Thank you!

Bird Nests

Bird Nest Reminder

Dear Parents,

We are going to be making bird nests. Please have your child bring small twigs, sticks, and little leaves found on the ground in a large baggy to school. They need to be dry and easily broken.

Please have them bring their bag on Monday.

Thank you!

Library Books

This is a reminder for you that there are only two more weeks of book checkout left this year for students!  May 8th is the last day for our class to
check out books.  Please find and return any lost books, and make sure to bring books back next week so they can borrow a few new books this year before the library closes.

Thank you!

Earth Week

This week we take a break from our bird unit to study the earth.  We'll spend the week learning how we can care for our planet.  The children were proud to share their trash-to-treasure projects today.  As you can see, they are on display in our showcase for all to see!

Field Trip Reminder

Please remember our class will attend a field trip on Thursday.  We will take a bus to the Marriott Theater in Lincolnshire to watch Seussical.  You need to send a sack lunch to school with your child on Thursday.  Many children have not attended a live action performance, so please encourage them to listen attentively and dress nicely!  Thank you!

FIRST GRADE GYM SHOW

FIRST GRADERS did a fantastic job at their gym show on Mar 13th.After watching each class perform I think everyone can say that all of the children are "FIT KIDS".

A special thank you to my team Dr.J and Mrs. Wickum for all their help  that evening with the children and  for helping them with their pedometers.

The children all looked great in their colorful gym shirts thanks to Arleen LaRosa.
