penguins
Hi, My name is Cathy Kim and I am the De Paul U. student teacher in your child's classroom.  While Mrs. Froman introduced our topic, PENGUINS, on Mon., I taught the children for the remainder of the week. We learned how they walk, what they eat, who eats them and how they keep themselves warm. You might want to review a few of our vocabulary words with them. They include KRILL, BLUBBER, WADDLE, ANTARCTICA and SOUTH POLE. We had a mini lesson on GLOBES and MAPS, which we will revisit when appropriate.Â
Next week I will be teaching the children about FARM ANIMALS. I am very excited and hope the children will come to class just as eager. I do encourage you to send in appropriate props from home when they are APPROPRIATE for our topic. They do love to share.Â
FYI: We have an early release day for PM class on Tues. Jan. 22nd. We have scheduled a field trip to the Skokie Exploratorium for Feb. 7th to break up the winter doldrums. Chaperones are welcome, just let us know. Details to follow.
Check backpacks for Snack Calendar and PreSchool Screening info. This is a free service offered by the district. It provides valuable info for parents and school. Also, we sent home a suggested list of summer school classes. Remember to include some fun choices...all work and no play isn't beneficial for any of us!
