Dr. J's News

All of our Todd Hall students are busy learning new things in our music classroom. Here are some highlights for each grade.

Pre-K:
Our Pre-K children are learning how to use their "singing" voices with their new song, "Clap Your Hands." They began to explore the sounds of our music instruments (hand drums, triangles, maracas, and tambourines).

Kindergarten:
The Kindergarten students are focusing on the beat in music. They are learning to chant, dance, and play the xylophone on the beat. They successfully completed their unit on Saint-Sans, "The Carnival of the Animals" and began their preparation for the Thanksgiving Feast.

First Grade:
The First Graders are completing their study of musical form with their "Can't Jump Josie" song, as well as beginning their Thanksgiving song. This month the students will begin their study of music by J. S. Bach.

Second Grade:
The Second Grade students started their unit on rhythmic patterns. They enjoy playing two part accompaniment for the folk song, "Polly Wholly Doodle." The dance "Wishy, Washy" will help them to explore both solo and group dancing on the beat.
