Fall News From CIC
It is already mid October, and the children have been very busy. There has been a lot happening in our classroom since we began school.
We have been working on our direct instruction reading program-Reading Mastery, and the children are all doing well. We have been working on handwriting, math, computers, listening center and journaling as well. NTDSE just subscribed to the Education City Math program online, which we have been exploring.
During October, we are learning about pumpkins, Halloween, fall and will begin learning some basic map skills. We went on our 1st Community trip to Dominick's. We planned our October cooking projects and went shopping for the items that we needed. The children had fun finding, picking out and carrying our needed ingredients.
We also started our take home literacy bag program. Each student chooses a theme/book based literacy bag to bring home for 2 weeks. There are books, activities and a journal included in each bag for the children to read and explore at home. These literacy bags reinforce many of the skills that the children learn in school.
Conferences are coming up soon, and more information will follow regarding dates and times as well as a sign up form.
