The first graders have been working with nursery rhymes all week. We have learned that nursery rhymes are songs/poems, sometimes rhyme, and they are written about true historical events. It was interesting to find out the true story behind Humpty Dumpty and how Humpty was really a cannon back along time ago during a war.

In math, we have been working on counting by 5's, 10's, 2's, etc. Students are using pennies to find addition facts that add up to various numbers. Please keep practicing counting with your child!!!

Centers were a success this week as students tried them out for the first time with Ms. Knowles. Centers included computers, writing and practicing spelling words, a pocket chart with nursery rhyme sentence strips, magnetic letters for sounding out simple words, and creation station where students made a sheep after discussing the 'sh' digraph.

On Fun Friday, we had a quick peek at some of our baby pictures and will finish up with our activity next week. What cute pictures!

Have a great weekend!
