End of Year

On May 6th our spring “Picture Day” was held.  Every child in kindergarten through second grade was assessed in reading using curriculum based measures.  This information was shared in grade level meetings to begin planning for reading intervention next year.  In the fall some students will receive support the first few weeks of school.  After our fall “picture day” groups will be formed for additional reading intervention.

I have enjoyed my first year as the reading intervention teacher at Todd Hall and am looking forward to next year.  I will be using a direct instruction program called Horizons which I used a little bit at the end of this year.  I am excited to start with it right after fall benchmark.  The students this year remarkable and made such progress.  They were a delight to work with and I was proud to watch them grow as readers.  Please continue to have your children read to you, with you and independently over the summer.  Daily reading is one of the best ways to improve reading achievement.  Have a wonderful, fun, safe summer. See you in the fall.
