Here are 10 things you can do at home this month:
- Practice saying the alphabet. Â Ask what letter comes after...
- Look at pictures in books or magazines and have your child tell you the beginning and ending soundsÂ
- Give your child a word and see if they can tell you a word that rhymes
- Give your child a word and have them clap the syllables
- Make up silly words by changing the first letter of real words, ex. for book change it to w and it becomes wook
- Get magnetic letters and put them on the fridge. Â Have your child find letters by name and sound.
- Have your child put the letters in order from a to z
- Practice counting to 100 in recognition of the 100th day of school
- Have your child write the names of his/her friends on the Valentine cards for the class party
- Read the Valentine cards your child receives and look for familiar words, especially the sight words your child has been working on in class
I hope you enjoy these activities. Â Check back next month for more at home learning ideas.
