Dear Parents,
We started our unit on the Rain Forest! We did a KWL chart on this unit. The children talked about what they already know and what they would like to know about the Rain Forest. After this unit is completed, we will go back to our chart and write down what we have learned.
In math: this past week we completed Unit 6 and next week we will be starting Unit 7.
In Making Meaning: we read a non-fiction book, Kangaroo Joey Grows Up. We learned that a baby kangaroo is called a joey and all of the different stages of a kangaroo’s life.

Dear Parents,
In math: we are working on unit 6. We are learning different patterns with number facts. We have worked on the addition and subtraction facts table, name-collection boxes, fact families, and fact triangles.
In spelling: this week we learned the “ar” words. We are working on “er” words next week.
In reading: We are continuing to read about nutrition. We have learned all of the food groups on the food pyramid and have been writing about each of the groups. We will be starting to read about dental health books and ways that we can stay healthy.

Dear Parents,
In math: we are working on Unit 5 and we learned this week about, place values, greater then (>), less then (<), and equal to (=).
In spelling: we are continuing our study of long vowels. This past week we have been learning about and practicing the long “e” sound and how we can differentiate the difference between the long “e” and short “e” sound.
In reading: we finished up our author study of Jan Brett. The children brought home their mitten project with all the animals inside and retold you the story. They were so excited to go home and share what they learned about the story!
