Happy Summer

Hard to believe it is the end of the year already, seems as though we just started.  We had a terrific year, and the children have learned a lot of new things.  Just to recap, we learned about ourselves, our families, apples and Johnny Appleseed, pilgrims and Thanksgiving, sun-air-water, winter and snow, the seasons and temperature, rainforest animals and spring and flowers.  We will be learning about insects during summer school, which will begin on Monday, June 22 and go through July 17.  Looking forward to a great summer experience for the children.   We will be saying good-bye to a few of our friends this summer, and we will be welcoming some new ones in the fall. May all of you have a relaxing and enjoyable summer filled with great weather and fun.

Classroom News & Happenings

Our class has been tracking the weather and we’ve decided that this is a very wintry winter.  We have been learning so much.  We started Dog Therapy with Nita and then Bridget.  For the students who are able to participate, the dogs have shown us how to listen and wait for your turn.

Fall News From CIC

It is already mid October, and the children have been very busy.  There has been a lot happening in our classroom since we began school.

We have been working on our direct instruction reading program-Reading Mastery, and the children are all doing well.  We have been working on handwriting, math, computers, listening center and journaling as well.  NTDSE just subscribed to the Education City Math program online, which we have been exploring.

During October, we are learning about pumpkins, Halloween, fall and will begin learning some basic map skills.  We went on our 1st Community trip to Dominick's.  We planned our October cooking projects and went shopping for the items that we needed. The children had fun finding, picking out and carrying our needed ingredients.

NEWS FROM ROOM 205

January 2008

Happy New Year and welcome back to school. We are so happy because we have a new student in our room, she started at Todd Hall two weeks before Winter Break.

We hope you enjoyed the Holiday gift that was made for all of our families. Every one worked very hard on their Holiday gift.

All of our students are continuing to progress with; writing, ABC'S, phonics, math, journals, spelling, science and of course Gym and Music.

We will continue working on; Winter and Snow. We will be reading "The Mitten" and "Stone Soup". We will also be cooking our own Stone Soup in our room, it should be delicious.

NEWS FROM ROOM 205

Nov. 20, 2007

Dear Families:

Our room at Todd Hall is very busy. We continue to work on our letter sounds, identifying letters and writing letters. We are working on the letters A-T-P-N-S-I-K-C. We hope that you have had a chance to look through the "home work" packets that were sent home earlier this week. It may be helpful to have a set time each day, (before dinner or after dinner) that you sit down with your child and work on homework.

We are also talking about Thanksgiving and how we are thankful. We learned about the Pilgrims and the Native Americans, what they planted and hunted and how they ate dinner together. We also had a feast in our room. We ate Turkey with stuffing, macaroni and cheese, rolls, green beans and desserts. Everyone enjoyed.
