Dear Parents,

This week we started our Rain Forest Unit! We began this unit with a book pass. The children found many wonderful facts about Rain Forests in the books we looked at. As the unit continued, we learned many interesting facts about the Rain Forest.

In phonics, we reviewed consonant diagraphs. The children were asked to sort words that had consonant diagraphs based on whether the consonant digraph was at the beginning or ending of the word. When children recognize these consonant diagraphs more quickly, it helps them to decode words with these diagraphs more efficiently.

Dear Parents,

This week we continued to learn about ways to be healthy eaters. We learned about the protein group and all the foods that belong to this group. The children also learned about the fats, oils, and sweets group. As a class we discussed how it is important to eat foods from this group in moderation.

We also learned about our first president George Washington. The children learned many interesting facts about his life. Then the children each wrote about at least two facts they learned about George Washington. We then combined these facts into a class book.
