Lincolnwood's gifted pullout program seeks to provide a differentiated, academically appropriate learning environment where gifted children can maximize their potential. The Todd Hall gifted program covers five program strands, including:

  • Critical Thinking
  • Creative Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Global Awareness
  • Work Habits
  • Social and Emotional Skills

We had a full - and busy - week in Room 105! Here's a peek at our week...

  • We continued the Extraordinary Young Americans series with an article on Melba Pattillo. As one of the nine African-American high school students who integrated the schools in Alabama, Melba is extraordinary indeed! She certainly gave the children examples in perseverance and leadership.
  • We continued our critical thinking and math unit. I introduced the children to some new assignments: math analogies; math mosaics; and math perplexors. They enjoy working independently and the thinking challenges!
  • Today was Friday game day! We played a new game called Equate. This emphasized math AND thinking skills!
  • We'll continue our critical thinking and math unit next week.

We had another great week in Room 105!

  • The children presented findings from last week's Explore Your Interest Day. They shared what they learned and discovered. Topics included: Greek mythology; brain science; sketching; and geography.
  • We played two critical thinking games: Numerical Quadraminoes and Qwirkle!
  • We kicked off our new unit on critical thinking and math. The children solved some Sudoku and Venn Perplexors puzzles.
