Top Ten for the Week of February 22nd to 25th
Top Ten for the Week of February 22nd to 25th
We had another great week of learning and playing together! Here are some of the highlights:
1. Literacy Stations: We worked on handwriting, building words and blending the sounds, BookFlix on the computer, sentence editing, and filling in the blanks by adding sight words to a story. Thank you to Matthew's, Adrien's, and Luka's moms for helping this week!
2. Phonics: We worked on breaking words up into the onset and rime (c-ake), and played a board game to practice. We also practiced changing the first letter of a word to make a new one.
3. Making Meaning: We read the story White Rabbit's Color Book and continued to practice the skill of visualizing. Visualizing helps children to understand and connect mental images to something that is read or heard.
4. Math: We learned about the dime, and played a game where we traded pennies for dimes. We also played Eye Spy using 3-dimensional and 2-dimenstional shapes.
5. Cool Tool: We discussed how we should act when there is a substitute or guest in our classroom. The trait we focused on was being respectful.
6. We learned about two different kinds of sentences: telling sentences and questions.
7. Writing: We talked about how we can use computers in our writing, and practiced putting our fingers on the keyboard correctly.
8. Time for Kids: We learned about colorful animals, and how they use their colors to help them.
9. Handwriting: We practiced the letters C, E, and F.
10. Upcoming dates: No School Friday February 26th and Monday March 1st
Kindergarten Music Concert Thursday, March 18th at 6:00.
Have a wonderful LONG weekend!
