Top 10 Things For the Week of March 8th - 12th

Here are some of the highlights that we worked on this week.

1.Handwriting-We have been working on correct handwriting formation. We practiced U, S, B, and P.
2.Literacy Centers- We worked on building -and words, filling in missing sight words in a story, making sight words out of playdough, completing the poem, listening station, and lotto game with sight words. Thanks you to Matthew's, Adrien's, and Luka's moms for helping out with stations this week!
3. Text Talk- We read the story, A Little Bit of Winter. We focused on the words: grasped, message, prodded, remind, companions, and solution. Please have your child try to use these words in sentences.
4. Math- We worked on tools for measuring time, skip counting with calculators, making patterns using symbols, and dividing objects into half.
5. Writing- We discussed how to come up with ideas to write about. By making a list of people, places, and things they know about it can help them come up with things to write about.
6. Computers: We made an alphabet book by placing stickers onto a specific letter page.
7. Fountas and Pinnell-We worked on making -and words, new sight words an, go, no, do, & come, and recognizing number words in text.
8. Social Studies- We discussed Time for Kids about Tigers.
9. Science- We observed and compared rocks by washing them. We discussed how the rocks changed by washing them. If you have time, look up the three kinds of rocks that we introduced: basalt, scoria, and tuff.
10. Cool Tool- We discussed the importance of being respectful, responsible, and safe while outside during this time of seasonal change.

Please make sure you have your child bring appropriate clothes for outdoor recess. Hats and gloves are a must! When in snows your child MUST have snow boots and snow pants in order to go in the snow. Please make sure all of these objects are labeled with your child's name.
