Top Ten for Week of January 4th:
1.
By
the sounds of it, everyone had a great Winter Break. It’s so nice to seeing all the smiling faces excited to back
at school.
2.
We
started our unit on Fairy Tales.
This unit will last until mid-February.
3.
Ask
your child what “personification” mean.
A big word we are using in our Fairy Tale study.
4.
Next
week the whole second grade will be rotating classrooms to hear different
versions of Cinderella. An
excellent way to make text to text connections!
5.
At
the end of January we will be reading Fairy Tales to Mrs. Savage’s Kindergarten
class. More info. about this to
follow.
6.
We
are working on a geometry unit in math.
The kids are having fun with it.
Ask them what line segments, parallel, 3-D and polygon mean.
7.
The
end of the quarter is January 20th. We will be taking our last reading and math tests next week.
8.
Our
spelling pilot has begun. I hope
you are finding the word sorts fun and engaging. Homework is still due on Friday and the test will be on
Friday as well.
9.
We
are working on map skills in Social Studies. The kids will be making a map of the Lincolnwood School
Campus.
10.
Our reading skill next week is “oo”.
