Top Ten for Week of January 25th
Top Ten for Week of January 28th:
1.
The
kids have made amazing growth in reading this past quarter. Thank you for all your hard
work. We can’t wait to show off
our great reading to the kindergarteners tomorrow!
2.
We
are starting the prewriting for our Cinderella stories. The kids will publish their very own
book!
3.
We
have been setting reading and writing goals this week and the kids are excited
to achieve them.
4.
Next
week starts our mini study on presidents.
We will be learning about Lincoln and Washington in the coming weeks.
5.
The
kids will be writing about if they were president. Have a discussion with your child about what a president
does.
6.
In
reading we have been working on r-controlled words. They are tricky sounds and
extra practice with ir, er, and ur would be helpful.
7.
Practice
subtraction facts we started double digit subtraction with regrouping. A great site to practice is www.aaamath.com Check it out!
8.
Our
new science unit is Sound and Light.
We will be doing several hands on experiments during this unit.
9.
Another
important skill we will be focusing on in reading is inference. Have your child make inferences with
the books they read at home. Inference:
take what you know and what clues the book gives and decide what is going to
happen next.
10.
We have officially started our new skills for the 3rd quarter. Next week we start taking the new
quarter tests.
