Top 10 Things For the Week of March 1st  - 5th  

Here are some of the highlights that we worked on this week.

1.Handwriting-We have been working on correct handwriting formation. Click here to view larger image

 

 


2.Literacy Centers- We worked on matching uppercase and lowercase letters, handwriting, completing little books by filling in sight words, buddy reading, Starfall on the computer, and make an umbrella. Thanks you to Emma's aunt moms for helping out with stations this week!
3. Making Meaning- We worked on visualizing using the poem, " Umbrellas."
4. Math- We worked on counting by 2’s, dividing groups of objects in half, and played “read my mind” to find a shape.
5. Writing- We discussed the traits of good writers: Ideas, Organization, Word Choice, Voice, Sentence Fluency, and Conventions.
6. Computers: We played a game that focused on matching beginning sounds.
7. Fountas and Pinnell-We worked on matching uppercase and lowercase letters as well as finding objects for beginning sounds.
8. Social Studies- We discussed Time for Kids about different animals. Please read the , "Time For Kid Living Color"  with your child when they bring it home.
9. Science- We observed and compared rocks.
10. Cool Tool- We discussed the concept of stealing-taking something that doesn’t belong to you.


Please make sure you have your child bring appropriate clothes for outdoor recess. Hats and gloves are a must! When in snows your child MUST have snow boots and snow pants in order to go in the snow. Please make sure all of these objects are labeled with your child’s name.
