Valentine's Day is about being "Heart Smart"
Keeping with the theme of Valentine's Day this week, we continued to focus on healthy eating, especially for a healthy heart. Being "heart smart" is not a choice but a necessity. Ask us about the activity we did on Valentine Friday to learn about how smoothly and efficiently our heart works!
We also focused on two food groups: protein and fats/sweets. We learned that fats and sweets are fine, as long as, they don't take the place of nutritious food. We have to remember that balance is the key.
On Monday, we celebrated the 100th day of school with a variety of writing and math activities. We also brought home a hundred dollar bill. Don't you wish it was real???
Our Celebrity of the Week was our Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Susan Brandt. Dr. Brandt helped us celebrate the 100th day of school by not only reading A Hundred Hungry Ants to us but by demonstrating the different groups the ants formed in order to get to their treat. if the ants hadn't changed their minds regarding their group formation, they would have gotten to their destination in time to eat. Oh well, can't blame them for trying!
We would like to thank Dr. Brandt for providing a wonderful lesson in the many ways we can group 100. It was a lot of fun to learn! Thank you, Dr. Brandt, and please come back and visit us again!
On Thursday, we learned about Abraham Lincoln. We already knew he was the 16th president of the United States. What we didn't know was that he loved to read and that he was determined to learn all that he could, even if times were difficult for him. We are using what we learned from President Lincoln and are trying to develop the habit of "never giving up."
We would like to thank our Room Mom, Mrs. Terlizzi for organizing our Valentine party. Thank you, also, to Mrs. Albazi , Mrs. Balourdos, Mrs. Boudouvas, Ms. Carrerra, Mrs. Kougias, and Mrs. Shao. We loved the treats, the craft, and the game. What a lovely day we had!
We wish everyone in our 206 family a warm and loving Valentine's Weekend and a restful President's Day!
