1. Guest Reader -Mrs. Pepin came in to be our guest reader on Wednesday. She read Ruby The Copy Cat.

2. Guest Reader - Mrs. Farrukh came in to be our guest reader on Friday. She read a picture book and also some of the Sisters Grimm chapter book.

3. 5th Grade Buddies - the children are working hard to finish their final project of the year - a Habitat Research Pop-up book.

4. Spelling - formal spelling is finished for the year. The children took home their spelling books/notebooks. Your child is welcome to keep this and work on it over the summer.

5. Compliment Books - the children brought home their finished Compliment Books. We hope you enjoy them!

6. Math Stations - the children enjoyed working at the following stations: Computer, Dino Math Tracks game, Auntie Pasta's Fractions, and Multiplication Top It.

1. Guest Reader - Mrs. Lohan came in to read to our class.

2. Animal Research Books - the children finished publishing their animal research reports. We hope you enjoy reading our class book!

3. Weather Research Big Books - Almost all the class has finished their weather research big book. The children researched 4 topics. The children will be taking these home next week.

4. Spelling Tests - This was the last week of formal spelling tests. Thanks to Mrs. Geraghty for her help giving these tests all year!

5. ABC's of 2nd Grade - the children are working on a project called The ABC's of 2nd Grade. Ask your child to tell you about this!

6. Move Up Books - the children are making Move Up Books in the Computer Lab to give to their 1st grade partners at Move Up Day.

1. Guest Reader - Mr. Terlizzi read Dr. DeSoto Goes To Africa.

2. Bike Safety Program - the children enjoyed the learning about bike safety. Refer to the flier that went home in your child's folder for further information.

3. Art On Parade - We had double the Terlizzis with both Mrs. Terlizzis presenting the artist M.C.Escher. The class had a great time learning about his art and creating a positive and negative tesselation project! Our thank you to both Mrs. Terlizzis for a fantastic lesson!

4. Poetry - In honor of National Poetry month Ms. Thorstenson has been working with our class on writing poetry. This week the children wrote concrete poems. Be sure to stop by outside our classroom to admire the creative work!

1. Animal Research Adventures - the children began their animal research adventures by researching the description of their animals.  Thank you to all who helped with books and resources for the project!

2. Earth Day Letters - the children wrote letters to Mother Earth telling her how they will take care of her.

3. Compliment Pages - McAdams Money was paid for X-factor work on compliment page writing.

4. Hallway Behavior - the class spent a recess practicing how to walk properly in the hallway.

5. Loss Of Recess - the class lost a recess due to poor behavior with a substitute. The recess was spent completing the math lesson that was left unfinished. Please help reinforce good choices and behavior!!

6. Weather - the children worked on Tornado research.

7. Tornado - this is the title of our new chapter book.

1. Hurricanes - The children started to learn about hurricanes this week.

2. Favorite Seasons - the children wrote a paragraph about their favorite season, typed it on KidPix, and added a picture.

3. Clouds - the children began to learn about the different types of clouds and their relationship to our weather.

4. X-Factor Work - the children were reminded that X-Factor work is expected in all they do. This is a focus for 4th quarter!

5. Keep The Lights Burning Abbie - this is a book that was read during Reading Workshop. The children are working on extension activities to go with the book.

6. The Magic School Bus Inside A Hurricane - the children enjoyed listening and following along to this book at the Listening Station this week.

1. Animal Paragraphs - each child wrote a paragraph about his/her favorite animal.

2. Portfolio Night - I was pleased that our class had 100% attendance! Thank you for coming in to see all of the hard work your child has completed so far this year!

3. Light - the children enjoyed studying light in science this week. Be sure to ask about the different experiments.

4. Compliment Books - The children write complimentary paragraphs about each other that are put together in books. Each child will receive A Compliment Book written by the class!

5. Animal Research Adventures - each child chose an animal to research. Three resources are due by Apr. 21st. The research projects will be completed in class. Thanks for helping your child gather resources!

1. Mrs McAdams' Store - the children earned excellent/okay behavior during lunch this week and were able to shop at the class store for April.

2. Mystery Festival - The children enjoyed the participating in a simulated mystery this week about Who Borrowed Mr. Bear.

3. April Seats - the children were moved around to a new seating chart for April.

4. Crime Scene - the children visited the crime scene to kick off our Mr. Bear Mystery on Monday.

5. Behavior - the class earned their first "excellent" on Monday for lunchroom behavior. It can be done!!

6. Mystery Test Stations - The children completed 5 test stations in Mrs. Khan's classroom and 5 test stations in our classroom. A special thank you to Mrs. Farrukh, Mrs. Lohan, Mrs. Shah, and Mrs. Peping for helping with these stations!

1. Guest Reader - Thank you to Mrs. Farrukh for being out guest reader on Friday. The class enjoyed hearing the story Jamie O'Rourke and The Pooka.

2. Science - the children enjoyed watching The Magic School Bus In The Haunted House which focused on the topic of sound.

3. Musical Instruments - the children used recyclable materials to build a musical instrument using all that was learned from our Sound Unit. The children enjoyed playing their instruments for the class.

4. Mysterious Men - in Writing Workshop the children wrote stories using a picture prompt of two mysterious men. Be sure to ask your child about his/her story.

5. Mrs. McAdams' Flute - the children enjoyed a mini-concert of flute music in the classroom. I played my flute for them to go along with our Sound Unit. The children listened for high pitch notes vs. low pitch notes.

1. February Memories - the children wrote 2 paragraphs or more about the favorite activities and assignments they worked on in February.

2. March Seats - the children were moved around and given new seats for the month of March. Be sure to ask your child who he/she is sitting beside for the month.

3. Nolan's Birthday - we celebrated Nolan's birthday on Mar. 6th. Thanks for the fun goodie bags!

4. Nico's Birthday - Happy Birthday to Nico, our Leap Year friend! Nico celebrated his official "2 year old" birthday this past weekend on Feb. 29th.

5. Fraction Game - the children enjoyed playing Auntie Pasta's Fractions game during math centers.

6. Mystery Writing - the children wrote Who Am I? pieces of writing. They had to list clues about themselves.

1. 2nd Grade Music Concert - Thanks again to Dr. J. for all her hard work preparing the children. They did a wonderful job!

2. Readers Theater Plays - the children performed fractured fairy tale readers theater plays for both the am and the pm Pre-K classes.

3. Book Fair - the children had a great time shopping at the P.T.A. book fair - there was a wonderful selections of books and other goodies!

4. Guest Reader - Thank you to Mr. Terlizzi for coming in to be our guest reader. The children enjoyed hearing the book The Web Files.

5. Indoor Recess - the children had indoor recess most of the week. They were quite excited to finally get outside for some fresh air on Friday! Bring on Spring!!!
